Jump Rope for Heart

IT TAKES HEART TO BE A HERO!

Our 4th annual Jump Rope for Heart event will take place during the month of March.  Students will learn heart healthy habits, risk factors for heart disease, how to help the community and practice many jumping skills.

Last year 2015-2016 Peter Woodbury School raised $17144 for the American Heart Association!  Thank you for all your generous donations!  Our new goal this year is to reach 17,500.

Our Jump Rope for Heart event kicked off this week in Physical Education class with a little video about a Heart Hero, Michael, who is 8 years old and was born with a heart condition. Thanks to the kids who have raised donations for the American Heart Association in the past Michael was able to have surgery to help his heart.  This week in Physical Education class we discussed heart disease to help students understand why they are raising money for the American Heart Association.  Collection envelopes are going home this week March 6-10 and must be returned by Friday March 31.  On line fundraising is much easier and more efficient.  The students don't have to deal with handing in money.  I have encouraged the students to make web pages by visiting heart.org/jump and search for Peter Woodbury School using city and state.  Join our school's team and set up your own Web page to email family and friends.
