Destination Imagination Info Night

Destination Imagination Info Night for K-8 will be held on Tuesday, September 25th at 7PM in Room 17 of McKelvie Intermediate School.  This is for all new parents who are interested in hearing more about the program.  Returning families can register their children here. Registration closes on Friday, October 5th, 2018. Destination Imagination is an extra curricular that relies on parent volunteers.  There is no guarantee that your child will be placed on a team, but we work very hard to place every child who registers.  For more info on this wonderful program offered by our district, please check out or contact our coordinator, Marie Russell at

Change to Open House

Peter Woodbury's Open House is on Thursday, September 20th. This year, Mrs. Daley and Mr. Mitchell are asking to meet with parents in the multi-purpose room from 6:15pm-6:45pm. During this time they will discuss Responsive Classroom, student independence, communication, homework and school rules. It is the hope that this time together will provide you some greater insight into our school and maintain the open lines of communication we all value so much.  Any students who attend PWS may stay with their classroom teacher during this time frame (6:15-6:45). Any other children should stay with their parents in the multi-purpose room.
Parents and students in grades K-2 can visit their classroom and teacher anytime between 5:30pm-6:15pm (prior to meeting with the principals). Parents and students in grades 3-4 can visit their classroom and teacher anytime between 6:45pm-7:30pm (after meeting with the principals).
We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday, September 20th.

Book Drive

Sydney and Megan Leyden, students at BHS, will be running a book drive from September 17th-28th. This drive will benefit the Manchester, NH Reach Out and Read Program. Gently used children's books would be greatly appreciated. The donation box will be set up near the front office.

2018 Chorus Sign Ups 4th Grade ONLY

Peter Woodbury Chorus    September 12, 2018

Dear 4th grade students and parents/guardians,   It will soon be time to start our 4th grade chorus here at Peter Woodbury School! This is a great opportunity for students to learn how to use their singing voices as part of a musical group and sing a variety of songs and styles. We will have several performances throughout the school year both during the school day and in the evening. Our first concert is scheduled for January 9, 2019 at 7:00 pm.
Chorus will be held on every Tuesday from 2:20 pm until 3:00 pm. Students will be called down from their classrooms at the end of the day and bring all of their belongings to the music room. Dismissal to parents/guardians will be at 3:00 pm. Please wait for your child in the lobby. If your child will be picked up at a later time you will need to make other arrangements. Information about the after school program is available by calling New Morning School at 669-3591. I am not able to stay after chorus …

Community School Yard

This is our tenth year anniversary of the PWS Community School Yard! We will be working hard to prepare for new garden beds and plantings around the school property.

School Yard Spruce UP Our Daly Garden and school yard are in need of an update.  The beds will be reconfigured in the spring in honor of our anniversary, the cottage needs to be painted, loam needs to be moved, shrubs planted, and other projects. If you have a tractor or BobCat that could assist in the heavy lifting and movement of loam it would be appreciated. Please plan to join us Sunday, October 14 for a day of community!
The school yard was created through private funding and grants, and the wonderful collaboration of teachers, parents, and community members.  It is the only School Yard of its kind in New England. We look forward to your help in sustaining it. Watch for more information regarding times.
Please contact Mrs. Beltramo ( if can help with equipment or if you have any questions.

Garden Harvest

Students had the opportunity to sample tomatillos and cucumbers in the dining room today. These vegetables have been grown in our own PWS organic garden and were picked this morning! Thank you to Mrs. Gibbons and her kitchen staff for always preparing healthy foods for our students and to the Garden Club for helping our garden grow!

2018-2019 Schoolyard Expectations

We are off to a great first day for the 2018-2019 school year. Students are provided with a variety of choices when they are on the schoolyard during recess times. Each year the classroom teachers, as well as Mrs. Ferenc, remind students of the expectations for each area and piece of equipment. This ensures the materials are used appropriately and students are able to enjoy their outside time safely. Check out the image below if you're interested in learning what language is being used with your child or seeing what some of the more structured choices are. Of course students are also encouraged to play in the field area.
