2020 PWS Food Drive

During this time of year we are increasingly aware of how fortunate we are to have good friends, loving families, a place to call home, and food to eat. Unfortunately, we know that so many in our community are not as fortunate, and we feel that there is something we can do to help. Since we know that food banks are always in need of food, Peter Woodbury is holding a food drive for the New Hampshire Food Bank, as well as the Bedford Community Food Pantry. This year, we will continue to partner with the Bedford Community Food Pantry in providing food for their School Lunch+ program.  This provides backpacks on Fridays with food for students over the weekend.  ( Bedford Community Food Pantry- School Lunch+ )  Students can start bringing in canned goods, dry goods, and any other non- perishable food items the Monday after Thanksgiving (November 30). Contributions are not required and we are aware that there are so many different ways, events, issues, and causes to donate to and one f

Destination Imagination Registration 2020-2021

Registration is now open for Destination Imagination.  New and returning students must complete  this google form.  Registration closes on Friday October 16th, 2020. Destination Imagination is an extracurricular program that requires parent volunteers.  There is no guarantee that your child will be placed on a team,    but we work very hard to place every child who registers.   NEW INFO  K-6 teams may not use school facilities for meetings. Teams who wish to come together outside of the schools must adhere to same safety precautions as in school, with regards to masks and social distancing. Most teams will meet virtually this year.  For more info on this wonderful extracurricular program offered by our district, please check out  www.nh-di.org  or contact our coordinator, Marie Russell at  bedfordrocksdi@gmail.com .

Welcome Ms. D'Ambrosio

We are excited to welcome Ms. D’Ambrosio to the district. She will be housed at PWS but is a district Social Worker. Ms. D’Ambrosio is coming with a helping hand, Anna the service dog. When the pair are off the clock they enjoy hiking, craft projects with their family, and reading. While all that is fun their favorite pastime is relaxing in a hammock. They’re both excited to start working with everyone and to meet the great children and families that make up the Bedford Schools community.

2020-2021 Parent Pick Up Procedures

Image
Are you picking your child up after school? Since this is a new process we will be taking it slower than usual and will start parent pick up at 2:10pm for the first couple of weeks. Parents will no longer enter the building to pick their child(ren) up. Instead, everyone will have their child(ren) delivered to their car in a pick up line. You can find the traffic flow map here . Also, please remember to have a large, clearly labeled sign posted in the passenger side window of your car. The sign should have the name(s) of the child(ren) you are picking up as well as their grade level. Thank you all for being patient with us as we perfect the process over the next week.

2020-2021 Reopening Plan Selection

July 28, 2020 Dear Bedford Families, The Bedford School District has developed a Hybrid plan that supports the health and safety of our students, while providing in-person learning. We strongly urge students and parents to opt for the hybrid model; however, we also understand each family has their own set of circumstances, which may preclude them from participating in this model.  To help you better understand the options available, please read the following explanations: Hybrid Instruction Remote Instruction If you are choosing the remote only option, please fill out the form below no later than Friday, July 31. You do not need to fill out the form if your child is participating in the district’s Hybrid model as your child will automatically be placed into the Hybrid model. She used to force her brother and sister into playing school and complete worksheets or games she created. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her son, going on bike rides, hiking, swimming and traveling. We are excited for her to start with us!

Kindergarten & First Grade Orientation for 2020-2021

Welcome, Typically around this time, we would be holding Orientation Sessions for all our incoming Kindergarten and 1st grade students. However, social distancing has put a wrench in all of our plans and lives. In order to meet the need that we know you all have and to provide an opportunity for you to learn about our school, our programs, and to give you an opportunity to ask your questions, we will be holding virtual orientations.  If you have an incoming Kindergartener, we invite you to a virtual orientation on June 2 at 9:00. If you have an incoming First grader, we invite you to a virtual orientation on June 3 at 9:00 If you are unable to attend these sessions, they will be recorded and sent out to you that day. We will then be available for a follow up Q & A each evening at 6:00 PM. If you plan on attending one of these sessions please click the link to the appropriate sign up sheet and a link to the meeting will be sent to you closer to the day. Thank y

PWS Land Art

Google Meet During Remote Learning

As we continue to progress with the newness of remote learning, it is helpful to stay in contact and keep communication open. Google Meet allows educators and students to meet live with a whole-class, in small groups, and in one-to-one meetings. Please find the  Google Meet Expectations  in the link. We strive to provide the best possible education and support for our students, while maintaining the privacy within each home. We are respectfully requesting that, if possible, when your child meets in small groups or one-to-one with an educator, that those meetings take place in a public part of your home. We thank you for your consideration as we continue to support students in productive learning environments.

You did such a great job raising money to help save lives, we hope you’ll join us again this year. The Kids Heart Challenge will kick off soon — and you can get a jump on it by registering online and sending emails now. Here’s all you do: 1. Go to  www.heart.org/ kidsheartchallenge . 2. Search for our school and select it. 3. Choose Option 1– Yes! You participated last year. All School Meetings at PWS

Did you know that we have an all school meeting every month at Peter Woodbury School? This is a time when every student and staff member in the building comes together in the multipurpose room. The meeting has a different theme and is coordinated by a different grade level each month. It's a great way to build our PWS community. February's all school meeting was held today and hosted by our 1st & 3rd grade, with the theme of Healthy & Safe choices. Part of today's meeting was spent on sharing 5210 from the Mayo Clinic. 5210 talks about steps to being healthy. You can watch the video shared with students right here . If you are interested in getting a glimpse into a PWS all school meeting you can watch pieces of it here .
